Warrants DON'T EXPIRE!! Once a warrant has been issued against a Defendant it stays active until served or recalled.
If a warrant has been issued the only thing that will clear the warrant is to turn yourself in to law enforcement, or retain an attorney to contact law enforcement on your behalf.
Warrants never expire. They exist until canceled by the judge. And you will probably be arrested if stopped in Louisiana.
Generally you can't check a database to see if someone has an arrest warrant active: you can only do this for yourself, and must call the Warrants bureau of the Sheriff's Office of the jurisdiction you think the warrant has been issued from. In Florida, if you have a felony warrant issued against you then you may be able to check a database at http://pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/pashome.a, a database of wanted and missing persons.
said to be 3 to 5 years. that's all I've found.
In Florida, writing bad checks is a serious crime. It may result in misdemeanor or felony prosecution, depending on amount of check.
You may be fined by the bank for writing a check on a non-existent account. Plus, the person to whom you gave the check can sue you for the money and for which you can be arrested and jailed. Writing a check on a closed account is illegal and you can be jailed for the same.
If you know that the warrant is still active, there is a better than even chance that the offense is still open, and that you are still wanted. I don't know where you get your information on the statute of limitations being expired but I would check again.
Yes, they can get a warrant. It is a crime.
It is very likely that a bench warrant will show up in a background check. A bench warrant shows a poor level of responsibility.
Since you did not tell us what crime you are charged with, or what state, we have no way of knowing. Writing a bad check and committing murder have different penalties.
When a law enforcement officer has your name entered into the computer system for a check, you are being "warrant checked."
Probably the same as everywhere else in the world... it's fraud.
