Well, you have to apply to be a supervisor. Then you have to complete certain tasks to become a supervisor. If you are interested in becoming a supervisor message Mystery Mania or other Supervisors for the contact information.
Existing Supervisors are always looking for people to become Supervisors, so if someone's answering and other work appears to be quite good, sometimes a person will be asked to become a Supervisor without applying. That can happen very quickly for the right people, even within days of them starting to use the site.
The time it takes to become a supervisor on WikiAnswers depends on how long it takes you to complete the TIP program and missions.
As long as it takes you to be 15 years old, answer 10 questions, make 15 edits and ask 3 questions, if you know the answer or not.
Supervisors on WikiAnswers are just regular users who have been very active on the WikiAnswers community. You can become a supervisor just by doing your best to help out on WikiAnswers in any way you can. If an existing supervisor notices how good a job you are doing, he may recommend to a WikiAnswers administrator that you be made a supervisor.
When you send a request to become a Supervisor (and you are 15 and have asked at least 3 questions, and made 15 edits and answers to questions), it may take about a week for a response to come to you. You may be asked to first join the SPA program, which is a program that is basically a training program to see if you have the determination or WikiAnswers skills to become a Supervisor. Your SPA program will take 1 month at minimum to complete, if you complete each task very promptly, so don't expect to become a Supervisor right away just because you filled out the application.
There is no set time limit. It takes until you have shown you are ready to be a Supervisor.
There is no time requirement. Senior Supervisors happen very rarely, when a remarkable level of trust has been established between the site and a volunteer, and when there is a need. It isn't something that happens to everyone, and isn't something that you can work for. It is only something that can be given.
Mail any supervisor if you are having problems with another WikiAnswers user.
Lots of people want to become supervisors so that they can take on better roles within the site and so that they are recognised by other members as being reliable and trustworthy contributors to the site.
It may take a few days for your @WikiAnswers.com email address to be activated. If you are concerned that you have been forgotten, please contact your Mentor or a Community Assistant.
A Supervisor is a regular/knowledgeable contributor of a particular category. Age does not matter to become a supervisor. Anybody who is knowledgeable in a topic and is mature and sensible enough to take care/supervise a category can become one. The role of a supervisor is not something that can be asked and obtained. It is given to newer people on the recommendation of existing senior supervisors/mentors etc.
Just talk to any Supervisor, and they'll take care of it for you.
Supervisors do not work at WikiAnswers as their career, it is a privilege that they have gained, for several reasons. Any contributor can become a Supervisor, this is true, but, it takes somebody with talent, who is intelligent, open-minded, and ready to do more on WikiAnswers, to become a Supervisor. Contributors wishing to become Supervisors can either send an email to WikiAnswers, or let an existing Supervisor/Mentor know, and they may help you to become a Supervisor. Being a Supervisor works the same way as a Contributor, you don't go to an office to work, you don't get paid, you can use WikiAnswers at your leisure, the only difference between a Contributor and a Supervisor, is the power, and the extra abilities Supervisors have. Supervisors are just like contributors who login from their personal PCs and use the website. The website does not provide any specific facilities for supervisors to logon to the site. However, there are extra tools available on the menus. Supervisors participate out of their own interest towards the site. One fast track to becoming a supervisor is The Initiates Program (TIP). Other programs like SPA (Special Project Assistants) will help get you there, but they may take longer. Once you are a supervisor, there are promotion pathways. Everyone starts as a probationary floating supervisor. Once you finish the required mentoring after becoming a supervisor, you will be a regular floating supervisor, unless you pick up one or more categories to supervise and become a category supervisor. Category supervisors gain an additional tool for everywhere, and other tools for the categories they supervise. So you don't lose the ability to be a floating supervisor when you become a category supervisor. There are also advanced category supervisors. You may have the opportunity to become a senior supervisor, but you have to be a category supervisor first. There are also advanced senior supervisors. Then there are 2 other ranks that volunteer supervisors will be unable obtain since they are only for Community Assistants, and they are paid employees. Functionally, they are like Advanced Senior Supervisors, but with more tools. (I may be wrong in all this because I am not a CA.) There are "minor" CAs and "major" CAs. The minor CAs may be people like interns for Answers, accountants, bookkeepers, technicians, etc. The major CAs would be those who have significant authority and are directly involved with site. From what I understand, there are about 8 different ranks, with 6 of those being open for most who are willing to work their way through the ranks.
