Supervisors on WikiAnswers are just regular users who have been very active on the WikiAnswers community. You can become a supervisor just by doing your best to help out on WikiAnswers in any way you can. If an existing supervisor notices how good a job you are doing, he may recommend to a WikiAnswers administrator that you be made a supervisor.
Self-promotion is allowed on a contributor's Profile page but never in an answer. Most likely the contributor is a robot. Most robots will be blocked from the site by a Supervisor. If you are a contributor, you should report your finding to a Supervisor, who will deal with it accordingly. However, if it is a normal contributor, the user will be warned by a Supervisor to stop advertising in answers. If the user does not heed the warning, their account will be suspended. WikiAnswers is a Q&A site, and it not to be used for advertising.
You can e-mail WikiAnswers @ Answers.com (no spaces) asking to be either a category supervisor or floating supervisor. To be a category supervisor you should be knowledgeable about the category. Becoming a floating supervisor is a good way to start off. You can also post a message on Brave3's message board. He can promote you too. For more information, see the Related Link.
No, you do not gain any extra tools by joining The Initiates Program. You are trained in using the tools you already have as a contributor. This is an opportunity for you to excel in all areas of the site before graduating and hopefully being invited to become a supervisor. Ideally you should be proficient in all the tools you have available before becoming a supervisor and gaining extra tools.
Becoming a supervisor is a huge responsibility for a variety of reasons. Firstly, supervisors are trusted with an array of powers that a normal contributor cannot use, therefore you have to be mature enough to use them. These include blocking users, protecting questions/answers, featuring questions etc. Also, being 15 means you should have more knowledge than somebody of an age under 15, meaning you will get the best possible experience of being a supervisor. For more information, see the related link.
You should post the link and rule they are breaking on a Supervisor's or CA's message board. You can also post in the Community Forum under "Report Vandalism and Abuse".
No, this site answers questions. If you need help with using the site, you can contact a supervisor or community advisor. They should be able to give you assistance. Also, if you are interested in becoming a supervisor, you will be assigned a mentor.
One thing you should never do as a supervisor is show favoritism towards certain employees. It can create resentment and damage team morale, ultimately impacting productivity and trust within the team.
Maintain a good attitude (which you should keep all through being a Supervisor) and always be willing to help when you are asked to help, edit answers and remove some flags, join a group!
Yes. A Supervisor can be blocked just like a Contributor can. They will lose their access to WikiAnswers in such a case. They will be "locked out" until the Block lifts, and that will depend on the length of time the Block was placed for. (The Supervisor or Community Adviser who places the Block selects how long it's for.) Note that another Supervisor or Community Adviser can Unblock that Supervisor at any time.A Block is serious, and if a Contributor gets a Block, that individual has "earned" it. They're not handed out for fun. Further, if a Supervisor gets a Block, it's more serious. Any Supervisor or Community Adviser who places a Block on a Supervisor will almost certainly drop of a couple of notes to Senior Supervisors. This will inform them of the action taken and the reasoning behind it so that the situation can be looked at. Community Advisers and other Supervisors will review the issues and decide what action is appropriate. In such a case, the Block may immediately be lifted, or it may be continued (with or without a warning), or the Supervisor may have his power to be a Supervisor stripped from him and be reverted to a Contributor. Lastly, a Permanent Block can be instituted and left in place. The individual is "banished" from the Community. There are some instances of Supervisors getting a Block, but usually the "offense" is minor and things get straightened out. But there are those instances where a Supervisor "looses it" and gets a Permanent Block and is "locked out" of the Community. Unfortunate, but not unheard of. It's a sad thing. Note that Supervisors are required to "behave themselves" here just like a Contributor. They are tasked with setting an example. They are, in fact, held to a higher standard of conduct, and more than one Supervisor has gotten a note from Community Advisors or Senior Supervisors chastizing them for being "out of line" and making suggestions as to what should change.A Supervisor is, after all, as human as anyone else in the Community. But these Supervisors, these volunteers (yes, volunteers - just like other Contributors) are generally well mannered. And make no mistake about their mission; they are here to help you as a Contributor. They serve and are responsible to the Community and that's you.
GoLeads is one good site which I know which offers the mailing list of contributor religious. In fact it even offers you the mailing list of # Contributor political # Contributor health # Contributor general # Contributor environment # Contributor phone # Contributor charities
Its should be referred to the Lead Supervisor for the section
Of course! Becoming a user on WikiAnswers shows all your contributions and lets you volunteer for a supervisor position and other cool stuff.
