how long would it take to change a timing chain on a vauxhall zafira 54 plate.
Too long to tell, better check here: ehow.com/how_4496828_change-timing-belt-toyota-camry.html
i have a 93 mpv and i have to do the same thing you. You have to take alot off. Such as the fan, and radiator. Then you would have to take the timing belt covers off. i believe the timing belt must come off also cause to screws from the timing belt are holding the water pump in...a lot of work... Most of the time you get coolant on the timing belt, this can weaken it. Plus as long as you are in there, unless the belt was recently replaced, go ahead and change it too. It will save you another repair later.
If the pulley wobbles or coolant is leaking out, it's time to change the pump. Or, if you have a vehicle with a timing belt and it's time to change the timing belt, you may actually save money in the long run if you change the pump at the same time since most of the labor is already done with the belt change.
If you have to use jumper cables to turn on your car then it's time to change your timing belt. Although, it might be a hassle, remember that in the long run you are saving valuable time.
According to the Ford mechanics manual it will take approximately 8 hours to change the timing belt. The procedure can take as little as seven hours and as many as nine hours to complete.
On the driver's side of the engine under the timing belt cover. It is driven by the the timing belt. If you do change it you should always replace your timing belt and water pump while you are in there. You will save yourself time and money in the long run.
Up to 2001 change the belt every 105,000 miles. On 2002 and up models it does not have a cam belt but instead uses a chain that requires no maintenance.
about 3 hours if you know what you are doing
Refer to (and understand) repair manual
It's a timing chain -- needs only limited adjustment. Lasts a really, really long time.
It is depended on the condition of your timing belt
