That questions requires a speed to determine the answer. Its a simple calculation. The moon is about 250,000 miles away from earth. So you need a 'miles per hour' speed to figure out how many hours it would take given a certain speed. Hope that helps. :)
The Apollo spacecraft that went to the Moon in 1969 through 1972 took about 3 days to get to the Moon. If we had faster spaceships, it would take less time. If we could accelerate at one gravity of acceleration (32 feet per second, per second) halfway to the Moon and then slow down at the same rate, it would take one hour to get to the Moon. But we currently cannot build spacecraft that carry enough fuel to do that.
The Apollo 11 astronauts were launched July 16th 1969 at 08:32:00 am EST from Kennedy Space Centre. They reached the Moon when they performed a Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) maneuver July 19th 12:21:50 pm EST. It took them 3 days, 3 hours, 49 minutes... to fly to the Moon.
Faster: The NASA Pluto probe New Horizons flew from the surface of the Earth to the Moon's orbital path in eight hours and thirty-five minutes in January 2006.
Cheaper: The ESA SMART-1 lunar probe used an ion engine to fly to the Moon. It was launched September 27th 2003 and was slowly spiraling away from the Earth to the Moon. November 11th 2004 it was captured by the Moon's gravity - after one year, one month and two weeks.
Apollo 11 launched July 16th and landed July 20th. That trip took four days, from earth to moon.
The trip time could be reduced. We coasted most of the way, to conserve fuel. But you could, if you wanted, boost and boost until you simply smacked into the Moon, making an impressive impact crater. You could reduce the trip time to a day and a half, maybe less, if you didn't care how big a mess you made on arrival.
That's one fun thing about the lunar lander game.
It depends on how fast you go. For the Apollo missions, it took about three days to get there and three days to get back.
