Caffeine begins to affect your body very quickly. It reaches a peak level in your blood within 30 to 60 minutes. It has a half-life of 3 to 5 hours. The half-life is the time it takes for your body to eliminate half of the drug. The remaining caffeine can stay in your body for a long time. Effects can last from 8 to 14 hours

Caffeine is a drug, and going off any drug will cause withdrawal symptoms that can last hours or weeks. Much depends on how much and for how long the caffeine was being consumed, as well as the physiology of the patient. Going off caffeine at once can be a very painful experience. It is often easier to lower the dosage slowly instead of stopping it immediately. Take care when treating the pain of caffeine withdrawal as many headache medicines contain caffeine as an ingredient.
Hi, it`s difficult to say. There are few articles which show stimulating effect of caffeine on locomotor activity of Drosophila. But in this case caffeine was given with food by long time. In other article you can find suggestion that acute treatment of caffeine gives inhibition effect, chronic treatment gives stimulating effect. I work on crickets and caffeine and my research shows something like this. After injections (acute treatment) I observe decrease of locomotor activity. Now I`m working on effects of caffeine after treatment with food. We will see what happen. I don`t know anything about other effects . Jacek monty18@wp.pl

The time it takes for the body to eliminate one half of a caffeine dose is normally between 3 to 12 hours. It is called the half-life of caffeine. Several factors can shorten or lengthen the half life of caffeine. Smoking, medications and diseases are some factors. Pregnant women have higher caffeine half-life, 18 to 20 hours - pretty much longer for the fetus since its organs are not yet fully formed to be able to eliminate caffeine easily. About 99% of the elimination process takes place in the liver.
