The rule of thumb is that the anti-fungal suppository cream can remain for 3 days, which is why the full effect may not be reached until a day or two after the medicine is applied.

One reason to be careful of this is that you cannot safely use condoms or diaphragms as Birth Control while the medicine is present in your vagina, as it may cause damage (holes!) in the contraceptive barrier. (Also, the oral sex would get a bit funky.)

However, three days is just an approximation, and may vary from one woman to the next and from one brand to the next.

No it can not. Most antibiotics tend to cause yeast infection if they are not compatible with your body. In that case if you feel like you are have that, check with your doctor to see if it has anything to do with the medicines you are taking or it if it came on a different course.

An applied anti-fungal medication, available either over the counter e.g. Monistat, or via a prescription from a physician. Can a man get a yeast infection from a girl?

Yes boys and girls both can infect each other with yeast infections. If he had intercourse with a girl when she had the yeast infection and she got medication while he didn't, if he had sex with her or another girl, he is bound to infect her since he carries the bacteria within his body. Unless he gets treatment, she will keep being reinfected by him from time to time.

How can you clear up a male yeast infection is it diet?

With anti-fungal medication. Since a male yeast infection is external, you will probably need to see a doctor for the proper anti-fungal medication, since the over-the-counter medication sold for women's yeast infections comes formulated to insert internally (into the vagina). When you have a yeast infection, it is best to avoid foods that contain yeasts, such as breads, pizza crusts, cakes, and basically all baked goods. Also, avoid yogurt, and any other food which contains yeast - simply read the list of ingedients on the package of food to find out. Once the yeast infection is completely gone, it should be safe to eat foods containing yeast again. Yeast infections are most commonly caused by the use of antibiotics, because antibiotics kill ALL the bacteria in your body, including the "good" bacteria which helps keep things like fungal infections (yeast infections) and other imbalances from occurring. In fact, if you do not have a yeast infection and must take a course of antibiotics, it is a good idea to eat a very small amount of yogurt per day of antibiotic treatment in order to prevent a yeast infection from occurring.

What can bacteria heal?

First, bacteria is already in your body. For example, you have your own ecoli. Second, bacteria is on your skin. It doesn't really serve a purpose there. But....if you have an infection, such as sinus infection, or urinary tract infection, the bacteria in your antibiotic, such as penicillin kills the infection. BUT!! For women, this may cause a yeast infection because the normal bacteria in that area is killed by the medication. Thus, you need a different kind of medication, nonbacterial for that.

Can oral thrush spread to a vaginal yeast infection?
