Endive was first discovered in 1830 by a Belgian farmer named Jan Lemmer. He left some chicory roots in his cellar, they were an inexpensive coffee substitute, went away for several months and, upon his return, noticed that they had sprouted with little heads of endive.
They are now grown around the world. We are the only grower in the U.S. To learn more, check out endive.com.
