I have not received a notice for phone harrassment yet-only letters from lawyers offering to hepl clear warrant-will I receive official letter?
Until the judge that issued it withdraws it, or the warrant is served. It never expires.
A warrant never expires unless the warrant is served & returned (you're arrested) or a judge revokes the warrant.
It would depend on what the warrant is issued for, the severity of the crime and if you can be located for the warrant to be served. Also, would it serve the common good of the citizens if the money was spent to be extradited. You will have to face the warrant. Even if the statutes of limitations was up on the crime, the warrant never goes away.
Typically, the statute of limitations would be 7 years. However, it is important to understand that this applies to situations where a crime has been committed but no warrant was issued in the defendant's name. Even if the defendant's name is not known, a John Doe warrant can be issued. Once a warrant is issued for an offense, it NEVER goes away. It may become inactive after a period of time, say, 6 months. Even so, it can be reactivated easily by a LEO. Furthermore, if an LEO knows there is a warrant existing in your name, he may lawfully arrest you EVEN IF THE WARRANT IS INACTIVE. After arrest, the warrant may be re-activated. So...the truth of the answer to your question is...never.
A "Bench Warrant" is a warrant for arrest issued directly by a court. All court systems in the US grant receprocity to one another therefore, yes, a NJ bench warrant is good in OK. As a practical matter, if it was issued for a very minor violation they may not hold you or extraidte you because of the time and expense involved, but I would never count on it 100%.
Generally, such a warrant is a secret one, because the defendant will never be notified, until after the fact, that one was signed and issued.
This would never be recommended as If you cross state lines your charges can become Federal offenses. Assuming you posted a bond and never appeared, a warrant, more commonly known as a bench warrant, will be issued. Your bond posted will be ordered forfeited and a state wide warrant will be issued. In the event someone did this, they would not only have local law enforcement looking for them, but state marshals as well.
Warrants do not expire. They will last until you are arrested or they are canceled by a judge. They usually cancel the warrant after seven years, unless it is a serious offense. A warrant usually lasts indefinitely until the charge is cleared up. A bench warrant is issued by a judicial officer - they last until the warrant is either withdrawn by the judge who issued it or it is quashed.
The statue of limitations for arson in Norfolk, Virginia is 10 years. However, if a warrant has been issued, it will never expire.
A warrant will be issued for their arrest.
It is never removed from your record. If you do not pay the ticket your license will be suspended and a warrant issued for your arrest.
I am not familiar with Nevada. That said, if a warrant is issued in New Hampshire it is valid until an arrest is made. I would venture to guess that Nevada is the same. I have never seen a warrant with an expiration date. ADDED: In addition to the warrant, you should be worried about your driving privileges. If you were charged with un-insured motor vehicle and you never took care of it, it is very likely that your drivers license is suspended/revoked.
