Just returned to Nashville from a Bangor road trip!

Miles: Around 1,300, depending on where you leave from.

Time: Mapquest, depending on traffic and road work, will give you an estimate anywhere between 22 - 24 hours.

I drive a Honda Element, which gets 23 MPG highway.

With a 15.9 gallon tank, the hypothetical max. miles you could get out of a tank is 365.5

I stayed at around 65-70 MPH the entire road trip, and got about 370.5 miles out of the tank.

BRING CASH! Once you cross into New England, the toll roads are outrageous. I think from New York to Maine, I spent around $7.00 in tolls.

DON'T FORGET CASH! If you don't have cash at the toll, they have to log it and fill out paperwork, then give you something to mail in. It takes forever.

The hills in West Virginia will KILL your gas mileage. I would avoid driving through WV at night; minimal lighting, lots of wildlife, and fog.

Prepare yourself for stand-still traffic in Connecticut. There is such a large popluation in that area, and the only major highway is the one you'll be traveling. AVOID passing through Conn. during these times: 5 AM - 9 AM & 4 PM - 8 PM.

Round trip will cost you between $200 - $220. Make sure you set it aside!
