IF you have a trouble code or a "Check Engine" Light, it can take a several minutes or so. Best to do some highway driving. OR, just take the battery terminals off to clear the computers memory. If it stays on, goto AUTOZONE and ask for a free trouble code reading (AKA O.B.D). They can tell you what is wrong, and clear the computer for you manually. CODEBLU
