  • Walking definitely wouldn't do enough to make you lose that much weight in a short space of time. If you went walking for an hour you'd only burn around 350 - 500 calories, and you need to burn 3,500 calories to burn off 1lb of body fat. Try running it's more effective.
  • Taking a long term view though walking will definitely help you to get these results. If instead you look at the results you could get by walking every day over the course of a year then things start to look a lot better. For example if you could walk for an hour every day (this could be broken up in to smaller chunks) at a good pace, then you could expect to lose up to 1 lb of body fat per week, 52 lbs over the course of the entire 12 months. But you need to be consistent. If you make some small changes to your diet too then this could be far higher.
