If the container is cold, then the ice cream will stay colder longer, therefore taking less time to melt. If the container is warm, the ice cream will get slightly warmer than if it was cold, which makes it take less time to melt.

Any sealed container that is exposed to high heat can explode. Unopened cans and jars should never be heated. They need to be opened before heating.

As with any cooked foods, it should never be left at room temperature longer than 2 hours.
