45 minutes is the generally recommended time for a whole potato in its skin and wrapped in aluminum foil. (It's also considered a good idea to put a small amount of oil or butter inside the foil with the potato.)

Keep the grill to medium high when grilling and slice the potatoes as thin you can. Also keep the chopped potatoes in a container. Pour in the oil. Add the salt. Mix it well. Put the potatoes in a pan. Grill it until it gets good heat. Remove them from the pan and arrange the potatoes in one layer. There is no fixed time as to how long you need to grill. Just see that you continue grilling until the color starts to change and appears brownish.
