Usually there is a date on the ham for how long you can keep it. Many times I find cured hams have a refrigeration life of a month or two. After you open it, it should be good for 3+ days. Whatever you cannot eat within a couple of days, should be stored in the freezer with proper packaging. I find cutting it all up and putting it in multiple packages so I don't take out any more than I need at a time. I use the ham bone and scraps for soup, such as lentil, split pea and/or bean soup for a great change of pace.
Under the right conditions, whole spiral ham should be good refrigerated for no longer than 7 days, but should be frozen to avoid contamination.

You should cook a spiral sliced ham for 20 minutes per pound at 325 degrees F. A great recipe: Place ham in roasting pan. Cover with pineapple juice. Cover with tin foil and refrigerate overnight. To cook, pour off pineapple juice and mix in 1/2 cup honey and a few tablespoons of brown sugar. Mix well and pour over ham. Cover with tin foil and bake at 150 - 200 degrees F for 6 to 8 hours. Your ham will be tender, juicy and delicious.

your spiral ham probably says do not freeze because there might be a glaze that has come with it. also, hams, like most meats, are succeptible to freezer burn. if buying a ham, it is best to teat right away.
