After the Berlin Wall was torn down, public transportation increased in Berlin. Additionally, the economy of the city has become stronger in recent years as well as its political reach. As a result of the wall destruction, the people of Berlin are also much more united.
The Berlin Wall was built in Germany in August of 1961. The Berlin Wall was built to separate East Germany and East Berlin from West Berlin. The Berlin Wall was destroyed in 1990 which allowed for unification of West and East Berlin.
In the fall of 1989, the Berlin wall was taken down by sledgehammer and any other tool the citizens of Berlin could find following the first efforts made by the military. It allowed family and friends to be together for the first time since the wall was put in place.
Construction of the Berlin Wall started on 13 August 1961. It separated East and West Berlin and plugged the last 'gap' in the Iron Curtain which divided Europe into two blocs. It remained in place till 9 November 1989.
