probably about 6 and a half years
The time would depend on how much fuel you have, the mass of the space probe, and the time at which the mission is launched. At the best speed for spacecraft in 2012, the trip there would be at least 6 months, and a bit longer one way than the other. This is because the planets are constantly in motion, and the distance can vary between 70 million and 222 million kilometers.
Space probes do not take the shortest route because they have limited fuel. They will often fly-by Earth and the target planet, sometimes several times. Manned missions would have to be more direct and at higher speeds.
Space Probes
The current NASA Messenger probe, which was launched in 2004, finally went into orbit around Mercury in March 2011. Of course, it was launched on a minimum-fuel orbit, using SIX "gravity assist maneuvers" which help the probe to spend ounces of fuel at the exact right time, when it might take many gallons of fuel to go directly. Three of those "gravity assist" flybys were around Mercury itself, the first happening in January 2008.
Other missions, like the Mars Science Laboratory, will make planetary trips in a few months to a year, because their target planets move more slowly.
Well, it took about a month to get to mercury. Also it could take them more than 2 months depending on how far they want to go. From the earth to mercury it would take around 3 months of travelling.
The time required to travel from Mercury to the Earth depends on the amount of energy applied to the traveling object, or, to over simplify, on how fast you go.
a long time
100 days
It took Apollo 11 three days to travel from Earth to the moon.
Mercury: 0.2408 earth yearsSaturn: 29.46 earth years.
it depends on how fast your spaceship is. But from the fastest spaceship it will take about 10 hours and by the slowest spaceship 30 hours.
58.647 Earth days. Sounds hard to believe, I know
It takes 1407.6 Earth hours for Mercury to make one full spin (or rotation) around its axis.
