I'm not sure how the system of purchasing a pistol in Florida works, but converting a rifle into something which the BATFE would class as a pistol without being able to legally own a pistol would be illegal, not just in Florida, but in the entire US. Now bear in mind that, to be classed as a pistol, it would have to have just the pistol grip, and no buttstock. If it's a combination of pistol grip and buttstock, it's still considered a rifle, and is still legal, so long as the rifle is still compliant with state laws. Some states (New York, New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Cook County Illinois) still have so-called assault weapons bans in effect.

No. CCW laws specifically state that long barreled weapons (which a submachinegun with a buttstock would be considered, regardless of barrel length) and fully automatic weapons may not be carried. A semi auto pistol based on the design of a SMG would be legal, however.

What is the Round Knob Long Tang on Browning Superposed Shotguns?
Round knob refers to the pistol grip of the buttstock. The wood can be shaped with a round knob, or a flat knob which is abreviated RK or FK. Long tang is the top tang of the breech block frame which is the metal that comes down the top of the buttstock and screws into the wood. Usually it is 1/2" wide and about 4"-5" long. Some Superposed guns have a short tang which is about 2" shorter. Typically a round knob Superposed with a long tang is more desireable than the flat knob or short tang.
