long life antifreeze coolant or and equivalent
Modern coolants last a long time. I would however drain and replace the coolant every 5 years. Be sure and create a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Do not use tap water.

Conventional antifreeze is generally good for older vehicles. You can also consider 'long life' antifreeze - it's good for all make, model and year of vehicle or original antifreeze color. PEAK Long Life Antifreeze will protect for 150,000 miles/5 years. If your antifreeze hasn't been changed for 2-3 years for conventional coolant/antifreeze or 5 years for long life formulas, it's time for a flush and fill. - PEAK Automotive; peakauto.com
Antifreeze properties of some liquids were known about long before cars were invented.
Antifreeze does not have an expiration date nor does it go bad, as long as the antifreeze is kept in an airtight jug(original container) so it doesnt get dirt or other contaminates in it it will be good when you get ready to use it.
The color of the antifreeze does not matter, as long as its the same type used to fill it the last time you changed it. I would suggest using the "long life or extended life antifreeze. this is good for around 2-3 years. You can buy the cheaper stuff, but it must be changed more often. But again, the color does not matter.
Standard antifreeze should be changed every two years. Long life antifreeze needs changing every five years.
