I can't find the current amount, but there are guards stationed at the Embassy in Hanoi and the US Consulate in Saigon.

There are also projects underway to clean up the Agent Orange/dioxin that the US dumped here during the war. Additionally, there are ongoing medical missions.

I predict that within the next 3 years we will be docking warships and planes at Cam Rahn Bay and Danang, so there will be substantially more troops stationed here.

The only US Military in Vietnam today are a handful of Marines at the US Embassy in Hanoi and in the US. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), as well as military attache officers assigned to the embassy. There are also body recovery teams based in Hawaii that travel on missions to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia researching crash sites, former battle sites, etc. where US combatants' remains might be recovered.

The only American soldiers in Vietnam today are those assigned to embassy or consulate guard duties, and forensics teams searching crash sites, etc. for the remains of U.S. military members killed during the war.
