So using this calendar system, the number of "BC years" is 4.55 billion years - 2,010 years which is still about 4.55 billion years when you round the numbers. The fact is, we can get a pretty good idea of how old the earth is plus/minus a few hundred million years. So when we have an uncertainty of 100 million years, subtracting or adding 2,010 years is kind of meaningless. It's like me asking you when you went on vacation last. You may answer "2 months ago". If I ask you how long since the night before your last vacation, you would still answer "2 months ago" since you would find it pointless to add 8 hours to that time.
