Satan has created a lot of denominations and will keep on creating more! The same goes for Bible translations, he WILL keep on creating more.

Theologians who translate the Holy Scriptures into other languages are doing so to spread the Word of God to as many people on the planet as possible. There are many versions of The Bible, which is mostly due to the fact that our language is not in stasis. New subtle meanings and contexts are given to words and phrases every day. What this means to a modern English speaking person is that one may misunderstand or misread an older English text if one is unfamiliar with the context from which the words and phrases are given.

Also, contrary to what the previous poster may think, the Bible was not originally written in English and is a translation from various Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin texts. Often we may find that our translations need to be clarified. It's kind of like taking a picture in color and transposing it into black and white, or vise-versa. We need context in order to understand what shades or colors translate one to one in order to translate the entire picture accurately.

On top of all that, there are direct word for word translations and thought for thought paraphrases available. All of this is to give the common reader a braud view of scripture and its meaning.

I personally have 5 different translations of the Bible in my apartment right now. All of them are the Word of God.
