The hill was listed as being 875 meters high on old French maps of Vietnam. It was south and west of Dak To, Vietnam, in Kontum Province near the junction of the Vietnam, Laos and Cambodian borders. The Battle of Hill 875 was started by an initial assault by 330 men of Alpha, Charlie and Delta Companies of the 2d Battalion (Airborne) 503d Infantry, 173d Airborne Brigade on Sunday the 19th of November 1967. On the 20th of November as the sun was setting the 4th Battalion 503d Infantry arrived to reinforce 2/503. The Battle ended on Thansgiving Day 1967.
