In the Axis History Forum (see link) the number is given as about 77,000. This figure sounds fairly accurate.

Note that in addition to Latvian Jews, many German Jews were deported to Latvia and shot in 'killing fields' near the capital, Riga.

Holocaust specification in Lithuania

•During WWII in Lithuania was massacred 96% Jews. Comparing to other countries It is one of the biggest proportion of them all.

•This big proportion was so big, because there was no preparation for killing like in other countries (cloistering>>ghettos>>concentration camps>> extermination).

•Almost 130 000 Jews were massacred in 1941 06 - 1942 01 period when Lithuania was occupied by Germany. Other were impounded to ghettos and later massacred.

During the Nazi occupation around 75,000 Jews were killed in Latvia. A total of 200,000 Latvian citizens died during the World War 2.
