San Jacinto Day is an official state holiday in Texas and remembers the Battle of San Jacinto, near present-day Deer Park and LaPorte, Texas. On April 21, 1836, Texans won their independence from Mexico by defeating Santa Ana at the Battle of San Jacinto. San Jacinto Day is a celebration of that anniversary.
Mexicans were led by Santa Anna and the Texans by Sam Houston.
