While there have been dozens of aircraft lost over the past decade most have been due to accidents pilot error ect. There have only been a very few shot down by the enemy. these include A A-10A thunderbolt was shot down on april 8th 2003 by the Iraqis. A F 18 was shot down by US air defences on april 2nd 2003 There has also been a f-15 lost over Libya but if the USAF claims of " mechanical failure" is true is unknown. They might not have wanted to give the Libyans a moral boost by admitting a hoot down. So over all, despite the several wars that have been fought, its been quite a good decade for pilots over hostile skies.
