There have been many amendments proposed for the Constitution. However to date only 27 of them have been ratified.
A Wikipedia article estimates the total to be around 11,372 for the period 1789 through 2008. Of those that were never ratified, six received the required two-thirds majority votes of both houses of Congress.
As many as 200 amendments are introduced each year, but only a few ever receive serious consideration by Congress as a whole.
Besides the 27th that have been ratified, six others were not ratified. Four of them are non-expiring, and have been technically still under consideration since 1789, 1810, 1861, and 1924. They are obviously unlikely to be ratified.

There are 27 amendments to the Constitution to date. That is how many amendments there are to the US Constitution but the truth is that every proposition that has been passed and put on the ballot to vote on is an amendment so there have been many but it is my understanding there are somewhere around 600 so far.
