First of all the Medal of Honor is not "won" it is awarded. Won implies it was a competition. 50 Army medical department Soldiers and 2 Army medical department civilians have been awarded the Medal of Honor. Of those recepients; 16 were officers and 33 were enlisted. One of the civilians was Dr. Mary Edwards Walker. She was a civilian surgeon for the military during the Civil War and became a POW during that war.

The numbers listed do not include MOH recipients from other branches of our Armed Forces.

There are around seventeen who have received the Medal of Honor more than once. General of the Army (5 stars) Douglas MacArthur received two during WWII (One from the Army and one from the Navy).
