Historical Answer
The Old Testament was written over a period of several centuries and had more than one author, many of whom did not leave us their names. The oldest book written in much the form we now know is considered to be the Book of Deuteronomy, which was written by the anonymous author now known to scholars as the Deuteronomist. The Deuteronomist lived in the seventh century BCE and also worked on the Book of Genesis, as well as writing a historical series consisting of Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings and 2 Kings. Quite a lot of the Old Testament was written during the time of the Babylonian Exile and the centuries that followed, although some books gradually became attributed to earlier centuries. sixteen authors over 1400 to 1600 years. All Scripture is given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit! It should be noted that each writer didn't know each other. Since the author is GOD, it wasn't necessary for each writer to know each other personally.

A:The authors of the New Testament, including the authors who wrote two epistles in Peter's name, certainly knew the Old Testament quite well and made frequent references to prophecies said to be contained in the Hebrew scriptures. Whether Peter himself knew many Old Testament prophecies is unknown, although some prophecies seem to have been well known in first-century times and would no doubthave been known by Peter.

Well, all Scripture was ordained/"written" by God, but there were many different authors in the Old and New Testaments. Moses, David, Isaiah and Solomon were some of the authors in the Old Testament, and Paul, John, Peter, Matthew and Luke were some of the ones in the New Testament.
