The U.S. armed services lost not one major battle.

The US didn't know how to compute the victories and defeats in the early days. Couldn't go by the old stand by...taking ground...so something new had to be invented; the BODY COUNT! So, the US forces won alot of battles, and lost very few...because the US forces killed many a communist in South Vietnam, from the very early days in 1955 until the 1970s. The US had the firepower to kill more of them, than they could us. So our counts were usually higher.
Best answer: didn't win "Many" returning GIs had two wars to fight; one in Vietnam against the NVA/VC, the other in the United States against his fellow countrymen. Bullets were used against the NVA/VC in Vietnam; fighting words and fists were sometimes used against our fellow countrymen in the US.
Because the US government had no policy on how to win the war.
The US Armed Forces won 27 battles total whereas the North Vietnamese/Viet Cong won a mere 15 battles throughout the course of the war
The answer to how many battles the United States army won in the Vietnam War is controversial. The Vietnam war was a political war that was more of an insurgency with many little ambushes and almost no actual defined battles. The most widely accepted belief about the Vietnam war is that no one won or lost.
219 battles were won by the Union.

A good estimation would be well over a thousand battles; when counting US warships off the coast; Riverine Swift Boats on the rivers; Jets and Bombers over North Vietnam and air strikes in South Vietnam; Covert operations along the borders; and standard tank/infantry battles thru-out the land for over 10 years.
The U.S. were part of the Allies.
