The US didn't know how to compute the victories and defeats in the early days. Couldn't go by the old stand by...taking ground...so something new had to be invented; the BODY COUNT!

So, the US forces won alot of battles, and lost very few...because the US forces killed many a communist in South Vietnam, from the very early days in 1955 until the 1970s.

The US had the firepower to kill more of them, than they could us. So our counts were usually higher.
