There are many varieties of beads, and size matters when buying a strand. If the bead is particularly small, like a seed bead, there are usually 100 or more on a strand. If they are a bigger bead, you can expect to get anywhere from 8 - 23 on a strand. Of course, this all depends on the seller, and if they make the beads themselves. Lampwork beads are on the more expensive side, like I bought some handmade glassblown lampwork Christmas Tree beads at a bead show. They were about an inch long in height and I got 7 on a strand for $6. This is about a $1.20 per bead. I hope my info was helpful, have a fun time beading!
In the UK, seed beads come in tubes and bags and the bead seller should have a list handy to say how many beads are in a particular tube or bag. In the bead shop where I work, the 10grm tubes of size 11 seed beads have approximately 1,000 beads in them, the bags of 100 grams have approx 10.000 in them.
It is called a Dkir (remembernce of God) bead and there are usually 99 beads separated by 33's, ..the Dhikr is 33 - SubanAllah (Glory Be to God", 33 Alhamdullilah - "Praise be to God" and 33 Allah hu Akbar - "God is the Greatest".
Prayer beads or japa malas are used in many forms of Mahayana Buddhism. They usually contain either the 108 beads of the Hindu japa mala or a divisor of 108. In Pure Land Buddhism, for instance, 27-bead rosaries are common. Ojuzu Prayer Beads are hand made in three lengths, 108 beads, 54 beads or 27 beads. The full strand of ojuzu consists of 108 beads and is symbolic of the 54 progressive and 54 retrogressive original human instincts. The number of beads also vary depending on the different religions, Islamic prayer beads "Tesbih", "Tasbih" or "Misbaha" usually have either ninety nine or thirty three beads, Buddhists and Hindu Brahmanists use "Japa Mala" usually consisting 27 bead malas, a divisor of 108, whereas Baha'i prayer beads consist of either 95 beads or 19 beads strung with the addition of five beads below. Sikhs use a Mala with 108 beads.
It all depends on how big the beads you use, and how long you want your necklace.
For example, if you want to make a simple necklace using 4 mm pearls, and you want it to be 18 inches long. The number of four millimeter beads per inch is 6.35. If you have a clasp, you subtract the length of that clasp from your numbers after you multiply. So...
18 x 6.35= 114.3. Now the .3 will probably be eaten up by either the knots you put between the pearls, or be added into the length of the clasp, or your necklace will be ever so slightly smaller than 18" over all.

Now, if you are using more than one size bead for your necklace, the question becomes a bit harder. First, you sketch out the pattern you want to use with graph paper, figuring out how many of what size beads you want per inch, less the space that your pendant, clasp and accent beads (those big only infrequently used beads that highlight a part of the necklace) you wish to use.
A Buddhist prayer beads is called a mala. A full mala typically has 108 beads. Smaller malas (wrist and hand malas) will have 21, 28 or some multiple of those number of beads.

You'd need to know how many beads have to be in a necklace. Can you have a necklace with only 11 beads in it? do the problem by yourself.

If someone is making jewelry then the number of beads they might need for a necklace will vary upon the size of beads and the length of the necklace. It is up to the maker because no exact number can be given here.
A necklace with beads
if order of beads matters than you get 18P12= 8.892185702*1012. if order doesn't matter than it's 18C12= 18564 ways to arrange the beads.
Well that question is unreasonable because you cannot make a necklace of wisdom. You can make a simple necklace with beads.
