6 bell housing to block bolts.
How do I get to the flywheel bolts on a 98 dodge dakota to remove a transmission
12ft lbs for transmission pan bolts
The bell housing is the front of the transmission, the end that bolts to the engine. The bell housing is the front of the transmission, the end that bolts to the engine.
It is the large aluminum case that bolts to the back of the engine.
Remove the top and bottom radiator hoses including the transmission fluid, then remove the side mounting bolts, after that is completed, slide the radiator up and out of the engine compartment
Remove the shield on the front lower side of the bell housing.
The bell housing is the end of the transmission case that bolts to the engine.
Should be between 15mm or 18mm
On top of the transmission bellhousing near where it bolts to the engine.
If it is like the 2001 model. Remove the big black skid plate thing. Six bolts I think. Then you can get to the transmission pan. Remove the pan bolts. Drop the pan. Change the filter. REmove old gasket material. Put pan back on. Tighten bolts alternating pattern. Refill fluid through the transmission stick-check hole on top of engine.
13 FT. LBS or 17 N.m That is for the 42re transmission The 46RE is the same also. Good Luck.
It is a mixture of both.
