To calculate how many calories to burn ,one must calculate his/her height and consult the index for the appropriate weight for the present height,then accordingly calculate how much weight loss is needed to reach the right weight.For example if one is 8 kg overweight then they can lose 3 kg in a week following GM Motors Diet.Therefore in 3 weeks approx can be back in shape if the diet is followed religiously.

But usually we should consume only 1200 calories and burn 2000 to keep losing weight till we are absolutely in shape.
