That depends very much on what you are climbing. Generally when I'm climbing it is anaerobic. It is a good indicater of your strength to weight ratio as you have to pull and push your body weight all the time. I highly recommend it for SO many reasons!
It depends on your wait and how long you rock climb. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs and climb upwards for an hour (not necessarily consecutively) you will burn about 750 calories.
