It depends on the intensity and your size/weight, if intense then it can burn 600-800 per hour, about as much as hip-hop. If not as intense then about 200-400 per hour....I can't really explain the difference in weight and how that changes calorie losing though, all i know is that the heavier you are the more you burn.
It depends on the type of dance, the intensity and your weight. Hip-Hop can burn about 300-800 per hour and tap dancing can burn about 200-800 per hour. I think Belly dancing burns around the same as those and so is ballet. I would suggest tap dancing, it burns lots of calories even if you are not good at it. But ballet is best for strengthening muscles and stretching them out (flexibility).

Tap and hip-hop are good for calorie buring, both about 200-800 burnt per hour thus 600-2,400 for 3 hours. But these are not very good for things other than getting strong and buringin calories, ballet is on the other hand good for both of those and flexibility, balance and posture/form.

Yes, dancing is a great way to lose weight. Some more than others. I believe hip hop, Zumba and Jazz would burn calories the quickest.
