How many calories are in 1 full size bowl of special k fruit and yogurt flavored cereal Also is this a healthy breakfast choice?

The suggested serving size for Special K Fruit and Yogurt cereal is 3/4 cup. There are 122 calories in that 3/4 cup. That does not include the calories from the milk. This is not a very healthy breakfast choice because a lot of the calories come from sugar.

Can a lack of fiber cause obesity?

Lack of fibre of itself does not produce obesity. However a low fibre diet is likely to contribute to obesity for two reasons. First, fibre helps you to feel full, so you are likely to eat more calorific foods if you are empty. Second, fibre helps food to move more rapidly through the intestines, so there is less chance for nutrients to be absorbed.

Why did Dr. Oz say that soft drinks served at the movie theatres are healthier than their fruit punch when it's common knowledge that fruits are healthier than sodas?

Most so-called "fruit punch" has little or no actual fruit juice in it. If you look at the labels, most of these drinks are advertised as "fruit flavored drinks." They can't call it "fruit juice" because it would be false advertising, as there is little or no fruit juice in it. Instead of fruit juice, they use artificial fruit flavorings, which have no nutritional value. Look at the ingredients of Hi-C fruit punch (see the Related Link below). Fruit juice is the third ingredient. The primary two ingredients are water and sugar. A lot of fruit punch is advertised as being a good source of Vitamin C, thus fuelling the illusion that it is healthy. However, the Vitamin C is added to the drink. It doesn't occur naturally in the drink from the fruit, because there is no fruit in the drink. Again, take a look at the Hi-C ingredients. Vitamin C is added to it; it doesn't occur in it naturally. So, most "fruit punch" is essentially the same thing as soda: sugar water. You could just swallow a Vitamin C tablet along with the soda, and it would be virtually the same thing as the fruit punch. As for why soda is healthier than fruit punch, I have no idea. I don't watch Dr. Oz. But I would guess that it's because diet versions of soda are available, using no-calorie sweeteners instead of sugar. Very few of these fruit drinks are available in diet versions. All the calories from the sugar in these drinks are empty calories, meaning, they provide no nutritional value. And liquids do not make you feel full (unless you chug a large amount of them, and then you only feel full for 30 minutes or so). So when you drink a large non-diet soda or fruit punch at the movies, you are consuming hundreds and hundreds of calories (one of the very large sizes could have 1,000 calories or more). And even though you have consumed hundreds and hundreds of calories, you will not feel full, the way you would if you ate a meal that contained hundreds and hundreds of calories. When the movie is over and dinnertime comes, you will be just as hungry as you would be if you didn't drink the soda. All these excess calories will make you very fat. That is why most diets do not allow you to drink anything with calories (except for milk, which is a good source of protein and vitamins). Liquid calories don't make you feel full. That is also why nutritionists and dieticians encourage people to eat actual fruit, instead of drinking fruit juice. Even real fruit juice (like Tropicana or Dole) is not as good as solid fruit, because the solid fruit makes you feel full.

Is making juice from fruit good for you?

Yep, it's full of electrolytes, vitamins/bioflavinoids, and good sugars, and it's in a form that's readily bio-available. But you do lose some of the nutritional benefit of eating the fruit itself. For instance, orange juice (even the pulpy stuff) has a good deal less fibre than an orange itself. http://www.funadvice.com/q/how_much_fiber_is_in_regular_orange Fibre tends to slow down the absorption of fruit sugars, resulting in more stable blood sugar levels, so in that case it's better that the sugar is less bio-available in a whole fruit.

A feeling of fullness after eating?

You don't feel full, that's the fibre in your diet. A meal rich in fibre will make you feel fuller than a meal which isn't.

What are some diet plans offering low calorie meals?

When planning a low calorie meal, its best to eat fresh vegetables and fruit. A chicken salad will have low calories, and yet contain protein to help you stay full for a long period of time. For breakfast, a bowl of oatmeal, with a side of fruit is filling and nutritious, yet has low calories.
