Cans of tomatoes are sold in varying weights. Most people buy 14.5oz and 28oz. cans.
In my experience, you can replace a 14-oz can of diced tomatoes in a recipe for about 4 medium tomatoes, chopped and simmered for 10 minutes or more.
This is one of my favorites:1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained, 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth, 1 (10 ounce) can chunk chicken, 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green Chile peppers, drainedOpen the cans of corn, chicken broth, chunk chicken, black beans, and diced tomatoes with green chilies. Pour everything into a large saucepan or stock pot. Simmer over medium heat until chicken is heated through.
Cans come in different sizes. But typically, it would be about a dozen.
x = number of cans of corn y = number of cans of tomatoes x+y = 36 x(.40) + y(.80) = 20.80 x=26 y=13
Twenty 28 oz. cans of tomatoes should be enough. However, I'd use 25. Twenty 28 oz. cans of tomatoes should be enough. However, I'd use 25.

Sorry, but this is impossible to answer.Reasons:Whole jalapenos come in different sizes, so it would depend on how many large ones and small ones and other sized ones there are.You did not specify size of the can. There are small cans for one meal and there are 5 pound cans for restaurants.
I am pretty sure that people do steal sprinkling cans. People probably seal them because they do not have the money to buy them.
