It will not harm the engine but the engine will no longer run properly and will pollute. It is illegal to remove the converter from any vehicle.
Yes.
Bad O2 sensors will cause this. I just went through the same thing with my 99 silverado. also had to have the catalytic converters replaced. Cost $650
The check engine light will be on due to the empty catalytic converters not being efficient. On 96 and up vehicles the computer monitors the efficiency of the converters. Not to mention "gutting" a converter is illegal.
There is only one catalytic converter on the 99 TL.
2. one front and one rear. if you have the 3.0 V6 engine configuration, you will have 4. the car also has 2 catalytic converters. 1 before and after each cat (catalytic converter). there is a cat after each exhaust manifold.
where is knock sensor located on a 99 Silverado 1500 4.3
on each exhaust manifold there are Air Fuel Ratio Sensors. these are before the catalytic converters. after the converters, there are 1 or 2 Oxygen Sensors. i believe the 99 has 1 held by 2 12mm nuts about even with the driver's seat under the car. the connector is under the driver's seat.
YES, As long as the 99 is not the new body design.
You have (4) O2 sensors of the (97 to 99) Two are in front of the CAT. (Catalytic Converter). and the other two are behind the CAT. (Catalytic Converter).
you need a bypass directedelectronics.com
