Not a statistic that is kept. The number is likely so small as to be anomalous at best. While there are thousands of animal bites that occur every year, breed results are not tracked. Some internet sites such as DogBite.org claim to compile factual data, but it appears the statistical percentages are manipulated on these sites more to push an agenda than for any factual purposes. The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association reported last year that there were 238 deaths associated with dog attacks and that these involved 25 different breeds. The other statistics compiled by the American Humane society are important to that number:
-Approximately 92% (219) of fatal dog attacks involved male dogs, 94% (206) of which were not neutered.
-Approximately 25% (60) of fatal dog attacks involved chained dogs.
-Approximately two-thirds (159 of fatal attacks) of bites occurred on or near the victim's property, and most victims knew the dog.
-Approximately 24% (57) of human deaths involved unrestrained dogs off of the owners' property.
-Approximately 58% (138) of human deaths involved unrestrained dogs on their owners' property.
-Approximately 50% (119) of dog attacks involved children under 12 years old.
-70% (167) of dog-bite fatalities occurred among children under 10 years old
-Bite rates are higher among children who are 5 to 9 years old.
-Unsupervised newborns were 370 times more likely than an adult to be killed by a dog.
It is important to remember that dogs are animals; non-sentient, instinct driven forces of nature. No dog can be blamed for the irresponsible behaviour of a human. For every fatality that results from any animal, some person is to blame. The animal never can be blamed. Not a popular perspective, but the only true one.
A parting thought, just to put things into perspective:
There are approximately fifteen to twenty thousand deaths by homicide (people killing people) in the US yearly. The death by dog rate by comparison is just over 1%. Perhaps people should more rightly be banned than any breed of dog.
too many
more than you think there is about 400 times a year
There is no statistics on how many men are attacked in a year. It is known that approximately 50 men around the world are attacked by sharks each year.
500-1000
Six fighting bulls, accompanied by six steers, run each morning during the 8 days of the Feria del Toro in Pamplona. The number of bulls in other bull festivals varies, depending on the fiesta.
As discriminate people turns on dog fighting each we know that many dogs are but the estimate is not on paper.
Usually there are three matadores in each traditional bullfight and each fights 2 bulls.
In a standard bullfight there are three matadors and each kills 2 bulls. That is a total of six bulls. At times, however, there will be only two matadors and each will kill 3 bulls. This is called mano a mano. Even more rare, a particularly popular matador may fight 6 bulls alone. In any case, six bulls are the standard. Some smaller venues with less resources may have fewer animals and fighters.
There are 6 fighting bulls and 6 steers in each encierro during Pamplona's Fiesta de San Fermín. Three large oxen are used to "sweep" the street at the end of the run.
Unless two bulls are fighting for dominance to breed a cow, they generally do not fight each other. Two bulls together in a ring doing nothing would probably not bring in many spectators.
