According to the 1996 Ford F-250 owners manual it came from the factory with either the Motorcraft BXT-65-650 battery or the optional BXT-65-850 battery ( that's BCI group size 65 and either 650 or 850 cold cranking amps ) that's for the 5.8 liter / 351 cubic inch V8 engine , I would go with the 850

battery light on 2000 f250 will blink if battery is not properly charged. an example is if you have been sitting all day with stereo olaying and engine not running, you have run battery down some. after starting engine and driving, the battery light will blink while alternator charges until battery is fully charged i have only experienced this at night when lights are on creating extra load for alternator ,after running battery down with stereo all day

In 1992 the only diesel engine ford offered in it's F250/350 trucks was the 7.3 IDI naturally aspirated diesel. It wasn't a powerstroke engine. Powerstroke engines were introduced in 1994 and were direct injection diesel engines. A 1992 7.3 IDI did not have a turbo.
mine is a 1992 f250 its in the engine compartment next to the steering column it slips into a slot so its inside the cab
