sure, just get 2 wireless NIC Cards and install them both into the computers, then get a Wireless Router, and depending on your operating system, you may need to install more networking protocols. As far as having them both use A dial up connection. that i have never done before, but you should be able to do that using internet Connection sharing

If you are linking them together to share an internet connection, it all depends on your bandwidth. The more computers you have running internet at the same time, the slower your connection will be.

That would depend on the brand and model of router. Many routers can handle upwards of 30-40 connections without a problem and high quality ones can handle 254 (that's the max for a class C subnet).

As many as you want but if you are going to have more than like 3 or 4 online it can slow down depending on how good of a router it is but some routers can have alot of computers on wireless networks such as the ones they would have at schools or buisnesses.

You can buy a wireless Linksys router for as little as $35 right now. If you don't need wireless you may be able to save a few dollars, but having it available can be useful. If you do get a wireless router, be sure it is certified for "N" and features WPA security. Many may only support WEP, which is not as secure.

Who is connected to my wireless network?

You should be able to check how many computers are connected to your router, in the router settings. Most likely you can find it in "Status" for wireless network or for all networks. You check MAC addresses for all your computers connected to the router and compare it with those in the list. In that way you know if you have some "guests". You find out who connected to your router will be much harder and require special software and training.PS: you can use MAC filter to block "guests".

Is it necessary that a wireless internet has to have a router and a modem?

This question can be answered with a simple "yes" or "no" but that wouldn't do it justice. For all intents and purposes, yes, you need a Wireless router for a home wireless network. In industry, however, there are many solutions that do not involve an actual router, but instead a wireless bridge. In residential environments, a wireless router is actually a whole slew of network devices wrapped into a single plastic box. These devices include a wireless access point (which is essentially a specialized RF radio), a switch which handles internal traffic, and a router which deals with traffic from the internet going to your internal network and vice versa. In industry, the access points that you may see are simply that: the wireless access points. They are specialized to just broadcast a very strong signal. There are many other solutions to wifi, but the most common approach is a simple access point.
