information source on the web is probably the Jewish Virtual Library. Between 1942 and early 1945 there were about 160 Nazi concentration camps.

Nazi concentration camps no longer existed in 1949. But in 1939 they held no allied soldiers, very few eastern Europeans, very few Polish Jews.
