Formerly the "civilized countries", now called the "modern societies", or possibly the "industialized countries." Which ever term the historian/student wishes to use, when those nations are at war "some" historians like to refer to them as world wars. For WW1; that war was a world war because it was fought in the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic Oceans. However, WW2 was more accurately termed a world war, as it was more accurately fought all over the world. The Korean War could have been called a world war, as it had as many countries fighting in it as did WW1; but the Korean War was restricted to the Korean Peninsula. For example, there were no Korean War battles fought in the Atlantic Ocean.
That's only "part" of the equation. If nation participation was a requirement, then the Korean War was a "world war." Korea had over 16 nations involved in the fighting. The primary criteria is normally, "world wide." During WW1, the German Pacific Fleet under Admiral Graf Spee was chased across the Pacific towards SOUTH America by the Japanese Navy (this is WW1 when Japan was an "allied" power & not WW2 when Japan was an enemy power). The WW1 German Naval raider (Light Cruiser) EMDEN conducted "Guerre de Course" (Merchant Warfare) in the Indian ocean. Therefore, WW1 was a "world war"; it was fought over the majority of the settled world (settled meaning the war doesn't have to be conducted in the South Pole or North Pole in order for it to be a "world war").
There's no required number other than "two or more". The categorization of "world war" implies that the war involves actions on more than two continents.

The world doesn't 'need' war. War is the result of a breakdown in relations between countries.
There is no definitive answer to how many districts are in the world as district boundaries vary by country or region. Different countries have different administrative structures, so the number of districts can vary significantly across nations.
Lithuania is not a pointless country. All countries exist by right and none are pointless, no matter what their size or power. There are many small countries that have little impact on the world, but none of them are pointless.
