as many days as it is there if the car is there they can charge
no because the storage fee that the finance company charged you was what the repo company charged on the invoice. the finance company had no other reason to charge storage fee's they did not store it
They'll charge a "storage fee" for personal items of yours they removed from the vehicle. And it's legal.
Nope.
If my vehicle was repossessed at 8:00 pm and I paid the lien holder the full amount to pay off the loan. Can the towing company charge two days of storage when I picked up my vehicle at 1:00 pm the following day?
I just had my car repossessed and they told me i have to pay 75 dollars to get my personal things out. Also it hasnt been 24 hours. Im not sure is it illegal to charge that fee?
at my house it is free but it usually depends on where, when, why, and how long
Yes, it is generally legal for a repo company to charge a storage fee for retrieving personal property from a repossessed car in Nevada. However, the amount and terms of the storage fee should be stated in the contract or agreement between the repo company and the vehicle owner. It is advisable to review and understand the terms and conditions before engaging with the repo company.
Yes--if they are storing something on your property. You must have a written contract for the amount of rent and the area they can use for storage. This can be written on notebook paper, as long as it is specific about the rent and permitted storage area, and signed by both parties.
and are they to charge by day or hourly?
That depends on the situation in which your vehicle was towed. In an instance of repossession, they'll be expected to clear items out of the car. Then they'll probably charge you a storage fee for those items.
If your vehicle is in a private impound or police impound then yes. They only are obligated to give you without charge your government issued ID card(s), medication(s), and corrective lenses. They can hold anything else, even your house keys, clothes, food, whatever. Also if you "abandoned" your vehicle at an impound in Minnesota and the towing company goes through the legal process of placing a lien on your vehicle the property goes with the car.
In Florida, the repo company charges the lender with the cost to repo the car. However, the repo company can charge no more than $25 for storage of personals found in the auto.
