People should have a minimum of 5 fruits and vegetables servings per day. It is recommended that more of these servings come from vegetables than fruit if possible for example 2 fruits and 3 vegetables. Because children are smaller than adults, half of an adult serving is often sufficient as a whole serving for children.

Some vegetables are better than others for rabbits, so you should distinguish between treat vegetables (like carrot root -- the orange part of the carrot) and everyday vegetables (dark leafy greens like fully-grown Romaine lettuce, green carrot tops, and cilantro). You can (should) introduce dark leafy greens -- one at a time, and in small portions -- at about 12 weeks of age. You can (optional) introduce treat fruits and vegetables -- one at a time, and in tiny portions -- at about 6 weeks of age. New foods should always be introduced one a time, and in small portions. Then wait a few days before introducing new foods or increasing portions, to make sure your rabbit's okay with that food. Foods can be generally safe for rabbits, but your rabbit might still have an intolerance for it. See the related questions below for more info.

Fruit is an optional treat in a rabbit's diet, as are sugary vegetables like carrots. The House Rabbit Society recommends no more than 2 tablespoons of fruit per day for a normal, healthy 6 pound rabbit who is otherwise eating a balanced diet. If your rabbit has been sick or has some health problems, you should ask your vet when you can start offering fruit again. See the related questions below for info and helpful links.
Rabbits can start eating fresh fruit (like apple) and treat vegetables (like carrot) at about 6 months of age. Fruit should never be a big part of a rabbit's diet. A small bite or two of apple every few days should be fine, assuming your rabbit is healthy and eating a balanced diet. See the related questions/links below for more details.
Eat some every day. If you miss on certain days, eat more on other days.
