Since the Civil War, the only Democratic Presidents for whom an absolute majority (more than 50%) of the popular votes nationwide were cast in more than one election are Franklin D. Roosevelt (1932, 1936, 1940 & 1944) and Barack Obama (2008 & 2012).
A simple majority (a majority of less than 50%) of the nationwide popular votes were cast for Democrat Grover Cleveland in three elections (1884, 1888 & 1892). However, he won only two of those elections (1884 & 1892).
In two elections each, a simple majority of nationwide popular votes were cast for Democrats Woodrow Wilson (1912 & 1916) and Bill Clinton (1992 & 1996).
(Note: The nationwide popular vote has never had anything to do with who wins a presidential or vice-presidential election in the U. S. Only statewide (and districtwide in Maine, Nebraska and D.C.) popular votes matter; they are counted to determine which electors will be appointed by each state. It is the votes of those electors that determine the election winners.)

To date there have been five members of the Democratic Party who served at least two terms as U. S.
