Could you be more specific for me? I know different regions have different understood names for animals but there's three or four snakes here in southeastern Louisiana that are considered "Black Snakes." They could lay anywhere from 10-40 or even give live birth.
Many types of snake are black. Some give live birth, others lay eggs.
100 eggs
Snakes are reptiles, and all reptiles lay eggs. That is a basic characteristic of reptiles.
Some do. Some go after eggs in the nest too.
up to 1500
Snakes have the capability to unhinge their jaws. This allows them to swallow food that is many times larger tha their heads.Such as eggs.
Dozens if not more
rattlesnakes give live birth, Do not lay eggs.
Well there are many different snakes in the world so some snakes can have 100 or over a 100 like pythons.Different snakes have a different number of eggs.
Many snakes will take birds. The most notorious are the rat snakes, which will feed on nestlings and eggs.
Not much. Rat snakes come in different color patterns and combinations than kingsnakes, and are usually a bit larger than king snakes. Other than that, they are very similar. They are both non poisonous colubrids, and make great pets. They also eat similar diets of small rodents and other animals such as lizards and bird eggs/baby birds (if flightless and they can catch them). I believe that they are from similar areas, which include the southwestern united states and northwestern mexico.
Snakes can come in any color, and you wont always know if it's poisonous by the color. If you see a Snake in the wild, its best not to touch it. Only pick up or touch a snake if you are positive it is nonpoisonous.
