there is only one race = human race
there are sevral different ethnicities however:
black - African American, Caribbean and African
Latino - south Americans who are a mix of native American and spanish
hispanic - this can apply to south Americans and spanish/Italian people
caucasian - white people (eastern europeans, Americans etc)
Asian - Asian covers Indians/pakistannis, and also Chinese/Korean
oriental - east asians (Chinese, thai etc)
polynesian - these are pacific islanders (hawaiians, samoans etc)
middle eastern - people from Lebanon, palestine (inc. Arabic people)
Jewish - who are arguably a mixture of caucasian and middle eastern
hapa - this new race defines anyone half Asian
mixed - anyone who has two or more ethnic origins
Note:
*in Europe Asian means south Asian(Indian) in usa Asian means east Asian (Japanese)
*some people don't like to be called oriental
*polynesians are of mongoloid decent

∙ 14y agoWell, there are about 180 or so different countries in the world, and I guess some of them will only have 1 ethnic group. But Irish & Scots are different, I guess. So are Gascons & Bretons. Wurttemburgers & Prussians. Ukranians & Chetchens. I think this list could go on & on & on......But Southeast Asia has at least 36 ethnics whose population exceeds 100,000.
