Then followed the punitive expedition against Eretria and Athens for their interference in the Ionian Revolt 491-490 BCE. Then came the invasion of mainland Greece 480-479 BCE. Then followed the liberation of Ionia from Persian rule and its protection 478-450 BCE. And peace made 449 BCE.
